McCarty Law: The First 70 Years

In October of 1949, Neil McCarty opened an office for the practice of law in the Bank of Kaukauna building.  Neil had graduated from Harvard Law School in the spring and returned to his hometown to practice law. He opened his doors with a commitment to serve our community.  From that commitment, the firm that has become McCarty Law has grown and flourished.

In its first years, the firm served individuals and businesses in the Kaukauna area.  As the needs of the firm’s clients grew during its first decade, Neil recognized the need for an experienced litigator.  In 1961, Irv Curry, a graduate of Lawrence University and the University of Michigan, fresh from service in the Judge Advocate General Corp joined the firm to meet our clients expanding needs.

A few years later, in 1972, Dennis Wydeven, a Kimberly native and University of Wisconsin law graduate, merged his independent practice with the firm, bringing a strong background and experience in real estate law, elder law, and estate planning.

Together, Neil, Irv, and Dennis built the foundations of our firm.  These three founding partners retired with over 100 years of service to our firm and our community.  They practiced as a true partnership, each complementing the others’ talents.  They recognized that clients hire the firm, a team of attorneys who work together.  We remain a true partnership with teamwork at the center of our practice.

For many years, our firm continued our tradition of service, building and expanding our offices in Kaukauna.  As the needs of our clients grew, so did the breadth of our services, along with the number of attorneys and staff at our firm.

In the early 1980s, our firm welcomed current partners Gregg Curry, John Russo, and Steve Cerasoli, who have combined to serve our clients and community for another century.  We grew to serve thousands of clients and to become a top firm in Northeast Wisconsin and continued a proud tradition of providing the highest quality legal services as the law firm of McCarty Curry Wydeven Peters & Haak.

In 2006, we moved to our current office in Appleton and we became McCarty Law LLP.  We have continued to expand to serve our clients’ needs, including business law, estate planning, family law, health care law, and employment law.  We treasure the partnerships we have built with our clients and look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve our clients.

Today, McCarty Law is a team of over forty attorneys and professionals.   As our firm has grown, we have remained true to our roots.   Neil McCarty opened his office committed to serving our community by providing the highest quality legal services.  That commitment began when Neil hung out his shingle 70 years ago this month.  We’re proud to carry his commitment into the next seventy years.
