Shall We Dance 2018

On October 27th, we were extremely excited and honored to attend the 11th annual Shall We Dance event benefitting the Sexual Assault Crisis Center-Fox Cities! The Sexual Assault Crisis Center has been providing counseling, advocacy, and education services to individuals affected by sexual trauma and their loved ones in our community for 40 years – and all at no cost!

This year was especially meaningful to me, as I stepped down from my position as a member of the Center’s Board of Directors – an experience that has brought me a great sense of fulfillment for a whopping 12 years!  As I looked around the beautifully decorated ballroom filled to capacity with a crowd of wonderful and kind-hearted people, my heart almost burst with gratitude and respect for all of the staff and volunteers who helped make it all possible.  I was equally in awe of the sponsors, community dancers, and donors, that helped us raise over $215,000 for this year’s event!  And, even more mind-blowing was that, with this year’s donations – the Center reached a total of $2.1 Million dollars raised over the last 11 years of Shall We Dance!!

As I think about what Shall We Dance has meant to the Center over the years, and what we have been able to achieve because of the generosity of our community – I am reminded that none of it would be possible without the many, many wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting over the years through my involvement with the Sexual Assault Crisis Center – Fox Cities.  To my fellow board members both past and present, and the staff at the Center both past and present – you all have played a huge role in turning the Center from the tiny agency operating in the red, which hardly anyone knew about, that was housed in an equally tiny basement rental space, into the absolute powerhouse changemaker that it is today!

This morning I was reminded again of the of strides our community has made concerning the topics of sexual assault and violence against women, and the great work that the Sexual Assault Crisis Center has done over the years, as the McCarty team attended the Voices of Men Annual Call to Action event.  McCarty Law is proud to be a 2018 Call to Action Sponsor, and our team embraced the chance to discuss how we can all work toward an inclusive community where everyone feels safe.

McCarty Law is so proud to continually support and give back to this great community where we live, work, and raise our families!
