My legal practice…
Focuses on helping families prepare for the future.  My practice concentrates on elder law (making sure seniors’ legal ducks are in a row and protecting wealth from long-term care stays) and estate planning.

Consists of my beautiful wife, Mary, our daughter, Ebben, and son, Matthew.

What part of your job is your favorite?
Bringing peace of mind to clients.  While the subject matter of our discussions are unpleasant (death, incapacity, nursing home admission, etc.), most clients walk out of the office feeling better about a bad situation because we’ve put a plan in place.  I tell clients that we can’t always prevent bad things from happening, so it’s my job to make them as least bad as possible by having the right tools in the toolbox (wills, powers of attorney, etc.).

What is your secret talent?
I can throw food off my foot and catch it in my mouth.

What is one thing that you listen to, read, or watch that everyone should?
“Stranger Things” on Netflix and “The Americans” on FX – both dramas take place in the 1980s and have you watching on the edge of your seat.  Plus, I love all things ‘80s!

If you could trade jobs with one person for one day, who would it be?
James Tiberius Kirk.  Being Captain of the Starship Enterprise would be a pretty sweet gig.

My favorite part of working at McCarty Law is…
I get to be with my work family.  My dad was an attorney here for 40 years before he retired, so I’ve been coming to the office my whole life.  I’ve been on the payroll since high school when I was tasked with moving files.  My family has been spending holidays with the Currys since before I was born, so McCarty Law is truly my home away from home.
